Chapter 9. Dreamcatcher

Joanna took a shivering Evalina home while Gigi drove her car following Joanna. Joanna looked over at the girl; Eva still hadn’t recovered, and her dazzled state made her worried. She called Elijah on the way; he had assured her that Eva would be fine after a night of rest. He told her that this was bound to happen. Evalina was well past the age most girls go through the ritual. So, her mind would put up resistance. Elijah told Joanna to keep an eye on Eva for a few days and explain everything slowly.

Evalina remained in a haze throughout the night. Her eyes were closed, but she was wide awake; she couldn’t move her hands or even speak. She started to panic when she heard Joanna’s voice singing softly. Eva began to relax and finally drifted off to a deep slumber.
