Chapter 6. New Role as CEO

Amelia’s POV

“Can I get one more bottle of wine?” I asked the waiter as I emptied my glass. All around me, my friends were eating, drinking and trying to look happy except for my closest friends, Nina and Ted.

“Don’t you think that’s more than enough bottles of wine?” Ted asked with a light frown on his face. He had never been the type to approve of drinking.

“Nonsense! There is nothing like too much wine.” I slurred as I smiled at the waiter who had just dropped another bottle on the table, but before I could reach for it, Ted grabbed the bottle.

“It wasn’t a question, Amelia. That’s more than enough.” He handed the bottle over to Tina.

“I knew I shouldn’t have invited you guys. You’re such kill joy.” I pouted at the both of them, but their disapproving scowl didn’t disappear.

“Pretending like you’re celebrating won’t kill the joy, Amelia.” Tina began softly, “Your husband choosing to save his mistress is more than enough reason to cry it
