Irene handed me a piece of paper. I took the paper and saw the handwriting on it. 

“I ask for just one meeting with you, Leora. I need to apologize for the many wrong things I have done to you. Eva.” 

“She left this letter to me, who happened to help her take care of the documents for her return two days ago, Ma’am,” said Irene. 

Reading the contents of the short letter, I think I know what Eva wants to say. She must want to apologize and ask for reconciliation.
