Chapter 160. We Have a Problem
He didn’t stop her, seeing the perfect distraction just ahead. She leaned in as if to kiss him when her hand closed over the foldable blade tucked into the pocket of his shirt. He ducked his head right in time and she snatched the blade out at that very moment, slipping it behind her, probably into the folds of her corset.
“No kissing?” she played dumb. “That’s fine.”
“Not so fast,” he whispered. He grabbed for the hand behind her and she wrenched it out of his grip, or tried to. Before he knew what was going on, silver light flashed across his face. Pure instinct made him lean back without a second thought. She had just slashed the blade across the front of his face with her other hand.
