Silver nodded, holding on tightly to Jason’s arm. “I love him, brother, and I am staying here only because of him. He is the reason I can endure the bad attitude of Nate and the rest of the pack.”

Nate glowered at her. “I don’t have a bad attitude. Watch your mouth, princess.”

Scott growled and brought out his sword, pointing it at Nate. “Or what? Will you beat her up while her brother is here? While I am here? I doubt that, beast. You certainly do have a bad attitude. I can tell from the little of it I have witnessed now, and I must confess that I feel tempted to give Silver an award for dealing with you all this while.” He smiled at Silver. “Well, she has always been strong. Her brother’s sister.”

Silver beamed at him. “Thank you, Scott.”

Nate looked at Jason, waiting for him to draw his sword at Vincent for Scott’s attitude at drawing up a sword against him, but he never did. Jason stood there, still, and stared at the lot of them as if he was disconnected
