I stared at her, tears pricking my eyes. Then I smiled sadly before replying, “Why didn’t you say something?”
The woman was a foot or two away from me. She sighed. “Why did you need me to say or do something? Why did you need me to interfere with fate; to interfere with your destiny?”
I scoffed. “You could have saved her! She was a damn kid!! She just—she just got married!” The tears rolled down my face freely, and the knot in my throat got harder. “You could have saved her,” I added, my voice breaking before sniffling and waiting for a response.
