Chapter 16. The Business Party
The next morning, as expected, Phoenix was gone first thing in the morning. I get ready for my work and leave as well. Today is my first day at my workplace, and I want to give my best.
The other employees give me a warm and friendly welcome. And I bury myself in my work, forgetting about everything else. I enjoy doing my job, and in the blink of an eye, the day of the business party arrives.
I put on the long black long sheath black gown with a side slit till the knees. What a shame- red lipstick would have looked really good with this look. Putting on my heels, I step out of my bedroom to see Phoenix standing in an elegant black suit.
“Need some help?” I ask, “with the tie?”
“Sure.”
As soon as I inch closer to him, the smell of his cologne hits me, instantly reminding me of his drunk confession. I force myself to concentrate on helping him with his tie, but his intense gaze makes it a little hard to focus.
