Chapter 17. Unexpected Surprise
I let out another yawn when sitting at the breakfast table as Charlotte pours coffee into my mug. Phoenix is busy reading the paper back to his aloof self as usual- all signs of someone who was vulnerable last night are gone.
“Did you not sleep well?” He asks, keeping the paper aside.
I take a sip of my coffee, “Nope.”
“Do you have something on your mind, perhaps?” He asks, his eyes filled with concern.
You, I have you in my mind - you and your behavior utterly consume my thoughts. It’s really annoying. “Yes, lots of things.”
“You can bake something then; it helps you, right?”
“I need a partner.”
“Charlotte-”
“No.” I interrupt him, “I need you. Charlotte will take today off.”
“Why?”
“Since you seem a lot preoccupied, too. And you have played the piano for me. I wanna do something for you, too. Plus, it’s Sunday today, so you will work for me.”
