Chapter 19. Sharing Our Burdens
I dismiss the thought immediately, finding it absurd later on. We come back and, after our dinner, retire to our rooms - with a lot on our minds. After a little while, I heard a knock on my door.
“Were you awake?”
“Yes, I just couldn’t sleep at all.”
“It’s a huge step after all.” He says, leaning against the doorframe of my room. “Do you maybe wanna have some wine on the rooftop?”
“Why not?”
We clink our glasses and take a sip of our wine, enjoying the night’s cold breeze. “I think the rooftop became my second favorite place in your house.”
“Our house.” he reminds me, and I give him a cheeky smile. “You shouldn’t have too many favorite places here. It will make it hard when you leave.”
“You’re not wrong about that.” I sigh, taking a long sip of my wine. “Will you…never mind.”
“Oh, you can ask me? We are to be married, after all.” He teases.
“Will you miss me,” I ask, turning my head to look at him, “after I am gone?”
