I try to dial Athena’s number again but she doesn’t pick up while leaving my office building. I then call Jeff to call Aaron and tell them that my wife has been kidnapped. I tried calling Athena again, and this time, she picked up.

“I have never seen you this persistent before.” She says, with a mocking tone. “Gotta say, I might be slightly jealous. Is she really worthy enough of this love that you have for her? What if she never returns it?”

“Trust me,” I grit my teeth to control my raging tone, “she is worth dying for. I can burn the world for her and also burn myself in order to make her feel safe. That’s how fucking much I love her.”

For a few seconds, there was silence before Athena let out a long sigh and then clicked her tongue. “Let’s test it then if you’re willing to marry me in order to save her.”
