Chapter 137. The Night I Fell (Part III)
Just then, the distant sound of sirens began to pierce the night. My heart skipped a beat, the sound pulling me back to the grim reality of my situation. The sirens were getting louder, and closer. And I knew, I just knew that they were coming for me.
“Sh*t!” I exclaimed as I pulled on my hair in frustration. I needed to get out of here. I did not have the time to keep trying to find out if the cameras had sent the footage somewhere or not. I needed to leave.
I had a small hope that maybe the police were only coming over because of all the noise that had been there when Grace and I were fighting. But I could not be sure, they may be coming to arrest me too for what had happened.
Maybe they had watched everything happen and unfold.
Glancing once more at what I had done, I turned on my heels and rushed out of the house. The air was cold and crispy and the night seemed to chuckle at my predicament.
