Mr. Fin’s tone was more subdued now, a sharp contrast to the arrogance he’d displayed earlier. And I liked that. I could see the wheels turning in his mind as he tried to gauge how serious I was, but there was no doubt that my message had been received loud and clear. 

“Good,” I replied, my voice steady. “Let’s make sure we understand each other. I want this company to succeed just as much as you do, but I won’t tolerate being undermined.” I narrowed my eyes at him. 

He scoffed faintly and then smiled. “This is good. This is what we look for in a CEO. You’d make a perfect replacement for Bradley.” He nodded slowly as he kept his eyes on me.
