Chapter 228. By the Beautiful Lake

It was now dark and the sun had fled away. It was night and Josh was driving me somewhere that I did not know. Was I nervous? Yes. Was I scared for my life? Yes. But did I trust him not to kill me? Yes. 

I was in the front seat, right next to him. We had left the office half an hour ago but were still on the road. His eyes were filled with an emotion that I could not decipher but he seemed very focused. 

After we had had that talk back at the office and he had agreed for me to help him, he had left and then I went back to work. Then when it had been time for me to clock out and head out, he had just come back in and told me he wanted to take me somewhere, and that it was important. 

And yeah, here we were, heading to god-knows-where. 

Personally, I’d like to believe that I could help Josh; that I could help him and myself. I’d like to believe that maybe our lives were not set in stone and that everything could go right back to normal, or…let’s sa
