Chapter 234. A Phone Call

My heart sank as his words lingered in the air. There was a chilling finality to his tone, and I could feel the weight of his decision pressing down on me. The idea of Josh losing everything and going to prison could be the answer. 

It could be the answer to getting my life back. I could be able to go back to my house and be with Mark. I could be able to get married and maybe build the life that I have always wanted. 

It wasn’t too late, this was the chance to get it all back. But at the same time, I did not want to see Josh lose everything he had worked so hard for when he really was just another wounded person who was trying to find peace and happiness. 

“I don’t think you should give me such power; power to ruin your life. It’s not my place.” I grabbed a glass of orange juice and drank half of it. After I had swallowed and Josh still had not said anything, I continued, “This should be your choice, your decision.”
