Chapter 233. Breakfast and Hard Talk

My pulse quickened as I followed him out of the living room, trying to ignore the subtle edge in his voice. My heart was now thumping in my chest and there was a dryness in my throat that I could not deny. 

We went to the dining room and he helped me with my chair. I offered him thanks after sitting down. I watched him take a chair right next to me and that was when my eyes went to the table. 

I had thought it had already been set but all that was on it were fruits, very fresh ones. 

Josh reached for a knife slicing into a bright red apple with ease. The sound of the blade cutting through the fruit filled the quiet room, and I forced myself to focus on the simple act, anything to distract from the tension creeping back in. 

I had to remind myself that this man was a killer. He had killed four people already and even though he may have had his reasons, I had to know that he could have a reason if he wanted to kill me too.
