Chapter 232. Putting Myself First

I stared at the ceiling, my mind spinning, trying to piece together everything that had led to this moment. How did I get caught up in this tangled web of lies, betrayal, and murder? It felt surreal, but at the same time, I knew that it was real. 

I knew that it was real because because this was how my life had been for the past few months. Everything just kept getting bad, no matter how hard I tried. It would seem that things would be getting better and then everything would just go to sh*t. 

If you were to ask me, I would say that it was all making me a stronger and better person. But if you were to ask me on a deeper level, I would say that the light inside of me was slowly dying. 

I closed my eyes, feeling the heaviness of everything. Mark, Mike, Bradley, and the detective—they were counting on me. The plan had been simple: get close to Josh and keep a close eye on him, find out his secrets, and use them not to protect myself but to take him down.
