Chapter 10

“Let’s look at the map.” Chloe pulled a folded piece of parchment out of the back pocket of her jeans. She unfolded it and laid it out flat in the center of the circle as she pushed the bag of potato chips aside.

Julie began studying the map. The others had already seen it when they were planning out Chris’s attempt and again earlier today when it reappeared with his body, but this was Julie’s first look at it.

There was an X written in pen, which Julie assumed marks where they were now. There was the beach where Julie appeared, to the south of where they are now. Then, as you moved north, you got to the other side of the island, and at the point furthest to the north was the spiraling portal. It was actually swirling on the page, just like the real portal that Julie passed through when she left her home earlier that day.
