Chapter 15. The Rising
When she started playing with fire, using it to form any shape of an object she pictured in her mind, she heard a harsh voice whispering close to her ears: “I told you there will be consequences if you pick sides.”
Fear gripped her. She flicked around to see who it was but saw no one. She did recognize the voice. Before she could open her mouth to issue a quick query, the door of the closet started slamming repeatedly. The candles went off as a harsh wind howled toward her. The lights in the room started flickering.
“Grams, is that you?” Her eyes widened with fear.
When she didn’t hear any response, fear gripped her more. She ran toward the door to flee the room but the door refused to open.
She wrestled with the door before someone knocked her off her feet from behind.
When she lifted her face, she made a profile of her grams, standing over her. Her gram face looks mean and serious. “You don’t listen, do you?”
