Chapter 20. The Mind Work
401 ST. JOHN’S STREET
Seated on a round table with only a candle burning gently, Kate joined her hands with Mary. With their eyes closed, she began to guide Mary on what to do.
“Take a deep breath,” she said. “And focus your mind on what makes you happy.”
Mary slowly inhaled as she was instructed. Her mind could figure out there were not many moments that made her happy, except being around Clinton. She held that tight in her mind—the moments she had spent with Clinton. Her cheeks flushed with a smile.
“Now think of your identity as a gypsy and…”
Before Kate could finish her sentence, the candle burned angrily. She could hear the lights flickering but she refused to open her eyes. She tightened her grip on Mary’s hand and started speaking to calm her down.
A violent wind came, throwing things off the shelves. They could see the vibration of the ground. It shook vigorously but Kate continued to hold Mary’s hands and not letting go.
