Chapter 28
Lost in my thoughts and nothing at the same time, I hear two knocks on my door. I quickly check myself in the mirror and my outfit. I'm wearing jean shorts and a black crop top. I give myself one last look and open the door. Jack stands there with a grim expression and a cigarette between his lips.
"I had no idea you smoked."
"You have no idea about anything, Alana. Can I come in?" he asks, glancing around the room. I nod and let him in. I got permission to do a bit of remodeling in my room, added pink curtains, a bouquet of flowers on the white shelf I bought a few days ago, and even put in a shaggy rug.
"Do you need advice on something?"
"I just didn't want to be alone in my room. Benton has a date with Estefany right now, and I don't want to be the third wheel. Is it okay if I'm here?"
"You can't be here, Jack. Donna will get weird ideas in her head, and the agency might want us to pretend to be in a romance, and we'd end up just like a year ago."
