Chapter 15
"That you brought me here promising me a good breakfast has been the worst of your traps so far, Dad," I affirmed as I sat in the chair he offered me. He turned the table around and took a seat across from me.
The food was not yet served, but the table was already set, and it was an incredibly beautiful day. I would never admit it to my father, but from this part of the house, I had a panoramic view of the entire village, to the point where it looked like a toy town. I was excited to explore it a bit before leaving.
Also, the aroma on the terrace was delightful. I had to remember to compliment Mom on the fantastic staff she had.
"Where is Mom? She wasn't here to greet me."
My mother was the most affectionate of the three, and it was not like her to be absent precisely on the day of my arrival. I raised an eyebrow at Dad, and he adjusted his tie as if it were cutting off his air supply.
