Dominic’s POV

“You think saying sorry can solve this?” Luca’s voice sliced through the air like a knife.

I glanced at the phone that was gripped on my hand, feeling the weight of the conversation that was about to unfold. “Luca, It’s not just an apology I’m trying to explain.”

“Explain what?” His presence filled the room with an intensity that hummed, and he strode through the study. “That you lied to my face? That you’re in love with Leila, all of a sudden? That you betrayed me, Dom? So, What exactly do you want to explain?”

I sighed, everything suddenly heavy on top of me. “I did not intend for this to happen, Luca. She was the last person I expected to fall for. You have to trust me when I say that.”

“Believe you?” My chest constricted at the harsh, bitter laugh Luca issued. “Like I did when I asked you if you liked her, and you looked me in the eyes and said no?”

“Luca, I had no idea… all of a sudden it just… I didn’t realize until…”
