Chapter 52. Lines in the Sand
Dominic’s POV
I walked, carrying the bags of food into Luca’s mansion “Here I brought you your favorite.”
He hardly even looked at them, his face suddenly devoid of warmth. Do you think bringing me food is going to fix this?
It was a gut punch but I did my best to laugh it off. “It’s a start, isn’t it? Come on, let’s eat and talk.”
He remained rooted to the spot, those hard eyes on me. I saw the walls he had built up around himself; ones I was trying to tear down. What is there to talk about, Dom? Haven’t you already said all of that?
“I’ve said some things,” I admitted, as we dragged our bags to the table. “But I don’t think we’ve talked. Not like we should.”
Luca laughed with no humor. And what do you think this conversation is going to achieve? Make me forget how you lied right in my face. Or how you pursued the one person I cared about despite knowing about my feelings?
