Leila’s POV

“Leila! Let me help you with that.”

I looked up from the laundry I was folding to see Mia standing at the door with a bright smile on her face. I had not thought to see her here, and certainly not with a friendly expression. “Oh Mia, I didn’t hear you come in.”

Mia approached, her smile becoming a little broader as she picked up a shirt from the basket and began to fold. “I thought I’d find you here. You are always too busy doing chores. I thought you’d like an extra set of hands.”

“Honestly, I’m okay,” although less chipper. I couldn’t help but remember the spiteful things she had said to me in anger not long ago. But watching her now, trying to be smiley friendly made me pause. “But thank you.”
