Chapter 56. A New Dilemma

Leila’s POV

“Everything has to be perfect,” I whispered to myself, scanning the living room one final time.

The streamers were up—appropriately bright and cheerful, crisscrossing across the ceiling while a large banner that read, “Welcome Home, Michael!” was draped above the fireplace.

It was almost surreal to see the mansion, usually so cold and intimidating, looking so warm and festive. Dominic had ordered everything set up, and a wave of gratitude couldn’t help but niggle at me. Despite everything, he tried to make today special for my brother.

I went inside the kitchen, where the aroma of roasted chicken and freshly baked bread was wafting through the air. All his favorite dishes were set out, just the way he liked them. The look at all this food brought a weak smile on my lips, knowing just how happy he would be seeing everything ready for him.
