Chapter 2
Adelaide's POV
[Flashback]
My anguish must have been so great that I passed out. Even though I was now waking up quite exhausted, at least the agony had subsided. But something about me felt different. It seemed as though I was losing control of myself.
"This little one is not without tenacity." One of the guards said out to me from outside my cell, "I'll leave it ar that." I didn't get his meaning.
I opened my lips to speak, but all that came out was a bark. I moved! I wasn't even aware that I had moved because I was so stunned. I heard the guards begin to open my door, so I tried to take a look at myself.
I didn't even realize that I was growling at first. Somebody called out to me in my brain, "Calm down, I'll shield us from them." I had no idea who this person was, so I was rather perplexed.
"Who are you?" I returned the call. "And you, where are you?" I saw the guards approach me brandishing a massive needle
