"I really want to come with you," I told Ezra, hoping to finally persuade him. "Don't you want me to see where you work? You can introduce me to your colleagues."

"Why would I do that?" he asked coarsely.

In the privacy of our bedroom, he did not bother hiding his contempt. Not that he was doing a good job of hiding it in front of his cousin and his step sister. I had to do all the heavy lifting to maintain an image of a loving couple.

When we went to sleep, he refused to get on the bed and slept on the sofa in the room. Until when did he intend to keep acting like this? He was like a child throwing a tantrum.
