Chapter 10. The Epicenter
He rapidly bridged the gap between himself and Penelope. He tried to extend his hand, but Penelope smiled warmly and rejected, wiping her tears. “Ugh! Please accept my apologies; I simply felt emotional.” She chuckled angrily. Penelope cleared her throat and proceeded as Dylan sat on the seat, disappointed.
“Before Lucas came into our lives, those were my saddest days. He assisted me and even assisted in raising Elijah when I was studying after he was born. All of that is in the past, and I’ve moved on. Furthermore, having Elijah was the best thing that had happened to me. He is a gift that brightens my journey while I go through my dark past.” Penelope smiled.
As she saw what Dylan had done, she felt a stab of sadness in her heart. He knelt in front of her, hands folded in prayer for forgiveness. His expression appeared lost, far from the Dylan she remembered.
“I’m sorry...It was all my fault....”
“What are you doing? Dylan! Please have a seat!” As Penelope
