Chapter 10. Krystal’s Decision
Grandpa Jordy opened his eyes.
The tightness in my chest slowly faded away. It was replaced with a relieved smile on either Mom's or my face. Keeping him company was as simple as casual conversations or discussing his health. Once again, Grandpa just snorted, saying we were being too excessive.
"Leave your work, Krystal. How's your job over there?" Grandpa asked softly. I turned to look, and my apple peeling activity halted.
"The office has been left behind for a while, Grandpa," I joked. Grandpa shook his head slowly, smiling. "Cedric and Dad are taking turns managing it. Mom and I are taking care of Grandpa."
I saw that Grandpa's eyes were no longer on me. His gaze was fixed on the sky in the hospital room. He closed them for a moment, sighing softly. I witnessed how difficult it was for Grandpa this time. His face might not be as pale as last night, but still, the pain was evident.
"Grandpa just wants to see you get married."
