Chapter 5
“Good morning, Allian,” Mrs. Quinter greeted me when I arrived at their dining area.
“Good morning, Mrs. Quinter,” I replied as I approached her, holding a plate of pancakes. “Let me help you so you won’t get tired,” I added, placing the container on the table.
“Allian, didn’t I tell you to call me Aunt?” she reminded me with a smile.
I scratched my head and smiled back. I wasn’t sure what to do since I had just met them and wasn’t close to them.
“Just sit there, Allian. I’ll get your drink ready since you have school today,” Mrs. Quinter said, surprising me.
“What?” I exclaimed, confused.
“Yes, I decided to enroll you in Daylon’s school since you’re the same age as him,” she explained. Before I could speak, their youngest son, Demetri, chimed in.
“Why are you enrolling her, Mom? Maybe she doesn’t even know her multiplication tables,” he teased. Mrs. Quinter scolded him and warned him not to be rude. I smiled politely even though I felt unco
