Chapter 100. Trust
In the mornings, she was still asleep. Roy would drop off breakfast and then leave for work. In the evenings, we would eat together since Amari was usually asleep by the time I picked her up from May, who had just finished work.
Amari, in her deep slumber, remained unaware that her father and I were sharing meals together.
I patted my cheeks and tied my hair back. In truth, the work I was doing at this company was lighter compared to my previous job at Carl's company. My salary was also smaller due to the smaller company size, but it was enough for Amari and me, and that's what mattered.
"Hello," I answered the call.
"Are you out yet?" he asked.
I nodded as if he could see me. "I'm on my way home," I replied.
"I'll wait for you here," he said.
