I fidgeted with my hands because I felt uncomfortable with what he was insinuating.
"Are you playing with me, Dianna?" he asked.
I furrowed my brow and looked at him. I couldn't quite grasp what he wanted to convey.
"First, you rejected my proposal because of him, and now?"
"Who told you that I rejected your proposal because of him?" I shot back.
"I saw you both in the elevator," he said.
I chuckled. "Do you also know where we went and what we talked about?" I asked.
"No, but I'm sure it had nothing to do with work," he replied.
I averted my gaze. I couldn't bring myself to respond because it really had nothing to do with work.
"But if you're using that ring as a reason for him to stay away from you, you should stop," he advised me. "Have some mercy on the person who bought that ring for you."
