Chapter 89. Resign
"Ina!" he called, but I didn't look back at her anymore.
I rushed to hail a vehicle and breathed a sigh of relief when I finally managed to get on board.
I forcefully squeezed the folder into my bag.
"Ms. Ina, come in," May said when I knocked on their house.
"Sleeping," I whispered as I saw Amari soundly asleep, still embracing May's niece.
I picked up my cell phone when it rang, afraid that it might wake the children up.
I let out a sigh of relief when I saw Carl's name on the screen. I turned off my cell phone and put it in my bag.
"Have a snack first, Ms. Ina."
I handed her a plate with bread. "You went through the trouble," I said.
She chuckled softly. When the sunset, Amari and I went home. I was taken aback when I saw Carl in the living room, and she stood up when Amari called her.
I let them talk there. I went upstairs.
