Chapter 94. Cold

I gently stroked Amari's hair as she peacefully slept. She was still innocent of everything happening around her because I had yet to figure out how to tell her about it all.

I wanted to talk to Carl again after what happened earlier, but I was restraining myself. Now, I realized I had a lot to explain, and I regretted wasting my time earlier entertaining Roy's words.

I wanted to clear everything up, but how could I do that now when it might be too late? I sighed and moved closer to Amari. I also considered leaving this place since it would be awkward to stay any longer.

Perhaps I should resign from my job and look for another one, but Carl might think I quit because of him. I decided to stay for at least a month more.

The past few days had been emotionally draining. My life was finally stable, but it got disrupted again when Roy re-entered it. He had only brought misery into my life, and it was all I experienced when I got close to him.
