Hadley’s breathing stopped for a second, and she was taken aback. Her fiery anger began to cool down. “What do you mean?”
Benedict crossed his arms as he leaned beside the doorframe and grinned. “I believe you, but I don’t trust that guy. Can’t you see he’s interested in you?”
Hadley looked at him incredulously. She couldn’t resist laughing at his outrageous antics. “You’re losing your mind, Benedict! You’ll seriously go as far as doubting an innocent person?”
“I don’t doubt it. I’m stating the fact. I’m also a man, so I know what a man looks like when he likes a woman. Do you think he’d care about you to that extent if he’s not interested in you? Oh, c’mon, Hadley!” Benedict scoffed.
Hadley unwittingly nodded in disbelief. She turned her head away, trying to collect herself but failing. Hadley balled her fists and looked back at Benedict with a forced grin.
