Chapter 18. The Role of a Martyr Wife (1)
It was nearing dusk when Jethro and Hadley finished meeting with the doctors from the cardiology department of an allied hospital. They got to the parking lot, headed to their cars, and onto their following schedule.
The two hadn’t gotten close to their cars when Hadley stopped and said, “Jethro, can we drop by at the nearest shops? I have something important to buy.”
Jethro continued to walk and didn’t look back. “You have another meeting back at White Valley Hospital. Do you have to buy it now? We might run late,” he reminded indifferently.
Hadley checked her watch as she followed after him. “It’s still a bit early. We’d get there in time if we go now. Please, it’ll be fast,” she insisted.
“If you want, I can go back to the office first. I’ll sort the materials you’ll need at your meeting in case you run late,” Jethro casually suggested while fishing for the car keys in his pocket.
“No, you should come with me!” Hadley blurted unintentionally.
