“How was the convention?” Jethro asked.

“Good. I met a lot of new faces,” Hadley replied with a smile.

“How about your speech?”

“Well, they clapped after, so I guess they liked it.” Hadley

shrugged.

They both chuckled because of her answer.

“Why are you drinking? Did someone break your heart again?” Jethro suddenly deviated from the conversation with a bit of seriousness.

“Does drinking mean a person is already sad? I just love drinking beer while enjoying the nice breeze,” Hadley reasoned.

“The last time I saw you drink was because of Mr. Brandon Clark. So, who is it now? Is it your husband?” Jethro didn’t stop questioning until he had the answer.

Hadley was silent and ignored him. She looked up at the sky, pretending to watch the stars. She tried to avoid his questions because Jethro might find out the real reason for her drinking.
