Chapter 31

Papa turned his head to look around and suddenly started walking away. Unable to leave my spot, I shouted at Papa again, “Pa! What do you mean by what you said?! Pa!”

Papa seemed lost in his own thoughts, staring in one direction without blinking.

“Where are you going, Pa?!” My voice cracked as tears welled up in my eyes. Papa didn’t even turn back… it was as if he couldn’t hear me. He just kept walking.

He wouldn’t hear me anymore because he had become so small in my eyes… and he was slowly fading away.

I closed my eyes for a few seconds to calm myself down, and when I opened them, Jessie’s face greeted me. “Hey… are you okay?”
