I didn’t respond to the guy’s request because Mama immediately interrupted our conversation, “Dear, I agreed because I know it will also be a good experience for you as a pharmacy student,” she said while arranging her things.
“It will be a while before I can leave this hospital room, and don’t I have regular check-ups, Mom?” There was hesitation in my voice. No matter how great of an experience that internship could offer me, what good would it do if I ended up exhausted and unable to recover?
“I’ll be picking you up and taking you home every day. And because you’ll keep me company during my internship, I’ll also be keeping you company during your regular check-ups. And I promise I will not let you tire yourself,” he said with a smile, raising his right hand to the level of his ear as if making a promise like a child. He spoke quickly, like a rapper.
