Chapter 76. Good Luck Charm
Parker’s POV
Emma’s vision blurred, and the room began to spin. I placed my hand on her shoulder to calm her, but it seemed as if my words of comfort were drowned out by the echoes of her past. The letter had unleashed a torrent of memories, and Emma’s fear returned, more intense than ever.
Emma’s voice trembled as she read the letter aloud, her words cracking with emotion. The room seemed to fade away, leaving only the pain and longing etched on her face.
“Dear Emma,” she reads, “we’re so sorry we can’t be there for you. Take care.” Those were the only words written on the paper.
Tears streamed down Emma’s face as she finished reading, the letter slipping from her fingers. I could see the look on her face like she had been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her.
My arms wrap around her, holding her close as she breaks down. “I’m so sorry, Emma,” I whispered, my voice filled with compassion.
