Chapter 13
India woke the next morning feeling lighter. It was a feeling that was quite rare in her life, so much so that she’d never expected it. Life wasn’t perfect by any means, but she could talk. Something that she hadn’t believed she could do again, and that was a win for her.
She walked into her bathroom, humming under her breath when the room grew warmer. Lifting her eyes to the mirror, she met the gaze of the apparition that had appeared to her yesterday.
“Hello,” she whispered, her voice still hoarse from being unused. The woman, Hilda, smiled.
“I see you have gotten your voice back. That is good.”
“I have. Who are you really?” She turned off the tap, standing straighter. Now that she took time to really look at Hilda, she was pretty, with brown wavy hair that seemed to fall like water over her back. Her eyes were brown but glowed with ethereal energy. Her gown still glittered like spun glass, and she had a calm demeanor about her, like she had seen too
