Chapter 14
Sean Gallows had always considered himself a fair man. He had learned to make allowances in life for the gray parts of life. His work in the military had let him see the worst of humanity, too much to still believe that the world was just black and white, and maybe that was why he was standing here in front of India Kadnnon’s door, quite equipped to have dinner with a murderer, something most people would consider extremely crazy.
He reached for the knocker and bounced it against the door. He waited a while, listening for movement. He heard the slapping of feet just before the door pulled open. India was a beautiful woman, with her hair piled atop her head and her eyes a clear moss green, he couldn’t place what he felt, but he did feel a sort of kinship which was ridiculous to even think about.
“I brought wine,” he said in lieu of a greeting, handing her the bottle. She smiled brightly, taking it from him.
“Thank you, a merlot. Very fancy.”
