Chapter 15

“I am sorry, Layla, but your baby is dead,” said the doctor as he delivered the terrible news to her.

“No, it is not true,” Layla said as a tear escaped from her left eye. In the blink of an eye, tears were streaming down her eyes. “My baby cannot be dead. It didn’t even get to see the world,” she said as she cried out. Her eyes were bloodshot red as she cried uncontrollably.

Justin walked into the ward. “Hey, how are you feeling?” he asked softly.

“I feel terrible,” she sighed deeply. “I lost my baby,” she said, sobbing heavily.

“Sorry, Layla,” he said as he leaned toward her and hugged her.

“Where’s Jack?” she asked.

“He left,” Justin said as he furrowed his eyebrows.

“Why did he leave? His unborn child died, and he left. Is he that cruel that he couldn’t stand by my side at this moment?” she yelled angrily.

“It’s a long story, Layla. When you get home, you’ll understa…”

“That’s so fucked up,” Layla said, cutting him off.
