Chapter 14

“Another new day in this dreadful house,” Layla said as she stood up from the bed. “I hate this place, but I have to behave well for my baby’s sake,” she sighed.

“Layla!!!” Jack screamed.

“I am coming,” she said quickly.

“I wish he could let things slide and get to know me like I am willing to know him for the baby’s sake,” she murmured.

“I hope daddy and mommy become friends one day,” she said, looking down and touching her small baby bump.

Layla walked out of her room and walked down. When she got there, she saw Jack with Ashley and Riley.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“My mom isn’t doing too well. We thought she was getting better, but it turns out that things are taking a turn for the worse,” he said as he looked at Layla angrily.

She could see the pain in his eyes but didn’t know what to do. No matter what she did, it would look bad in his eyes.
