Chapter 14. Ava’s Father

Milan’s POV

I was shocked to see a stranger in front of my door staring back at me. I looked at the man in front of me and wondered who he was.

He stared at me strangely and then moved closer to me, but I immediately shifted back in fear.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” I asked scared but trying to act brave.

I noticed his eyes were green just like my daughter’s eyes.

“Are… you… Milan?” the stranger asked me, in a stammering tone.

I looked at him from head to toe wondering how he knew my name. I didn’t recognize him, and he didn’t look familiar. I was starting to feel a little scared, but I tried to stay calm.

“I am Milan, but I don’t know you,” I said, my voice shaking. “Who are you and how do you know my name?”

The man took a deep breath and then said, “My name is Jake. I know your name because I’m Ava’s father.”

My heart stopped for a moment, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Ava’s father? I didn’t know wha
