“Emma... Emma... Emma... Emma...” someone lightly taps my cheek as my eyes flutter open.

A bright light is shining over my head as the steady beeping of a machine sounds off in the background. I pick my head up and look around the room. Ethan is standing in the corner with a cold look on his face and the doctor from earlier on is gently taking my vitals and pushing on my stomach.

“There you are,” the doctor says brightly. “You gave me quite the scare. In your condition you have to be extra careful not to get overly stressed.”

“Her condition,” Ethan scoffs. “I would exactly call the stomach flu a condition.”

The doctor looks at me with her head cocked to the side, obviously confused as to why Ethan doesn’t know about my pregnancy. I widen my eyes and shake my head abruptly back and forth. The doctor clears her throat awkwardly and turns to Ethan with a serious look on her face.
