Chapter 22. Imprisonment
Madison’s POV
I was unable to react in time, as two lanky guards grabbed me by the arm, their grip firm and rough enough to irritate my flesh.
Struggling, I retorted, “I didn’t do anything. I was just… I was just…” I trailed off, unable to finish my statement.
Arthur sneered, the weight of the accusation in his glare pressing on me, “You were just what? Feeding him poison to quicken his death?”
I shook my head vehemently, trying to defend myself, “I would never. Raymond is my mate, I would never…”
“Silence!” Arthur barked irately, his expression twisting into that of menace and something different, something sinister and calculating.
He gestured to the guards, “Take her to the dungeons. I shall have her sentence declared tomorrow morning.”
Despite all my desperate struggles, I was unable to break free from their hold and could only wave my hands frantically, arms akimbo.
My breath came in uneven bursts, as my heels skidded again
