Chapter 28. Spy
Madison’s POV
That morning, the first thought on my mind was to see Raymond. I could not understand where the sudden urge came from, but I did not feel repulsed by that thought.
Hastily, I cleaned and got dressed with the help of Mendy.
“Put the jewelry on for me,” I told Mendy who had initially proceeded to take a jade necklace back into its box. I never liked beautifying myself, so I had enunciated this fact to her.
But today, I wanted to give it a try.
Mendy gave me a doubtful look. Afterward, she escorted me to the dining table and I hurried forward with anticipation.
Yet, just as I made my way forward, I saw Raymond and Karla leaving.
“My lady, shall I call for the lord’s attention?” Mendy asked, and I stared at Raymond’s receding silhouette, before shaking my head.
“No need.” With that, I sat down.
I watched them leave without a change in my expression, but I was the only one who knew my inner turmoil.
