Chapter 26. Closeness
Madison’s POV
As we sat to dine together, I suddenly felt a loss of appetite. I chewed a bite for several seconds, and regardless of how much I tried, I could not bring myself to swallow.
Raymond sat in the head seat, and Karla and I sat on his right and left side respectively.
“Karla, How is your Mother faring now? You went to visit her, right?” Raymond asked, his attention focused mainly on the graceful figure beside him, whose every move seemed pleasant no matter the direction.
I twirled the cutleries between my fingers, pressing my lips into a thin line.
However, I was unsure of the reason for my sudden annoyance. Raymond and Karla were good friends, childhood friends even. They were bound to be very close to each other, so why do I have this strange feeling?
Karla swallowed lightly before replying after wiping her mouth with a soft handkerchief in her hand, “My mother is well now. It was not as serious as the messenger deemed it to be.
