Chapter 14
Sara Woodstock watched her son, who still had his eyes on Mitchell, as she left the office.
“George! What is wrong with you?” Sara sounded agitated.
George turned to his mother with flared nostrils. “I’m supposed to be asking you that. What’s wrong with you, mother? What do you have against Mitchell?”
Sara raised her brows. “I have nothing against the girl. I just don’t want a situation whereby a girl becomes the undoing of my son.”
“Mitchell will not be my undoing, mother. And what is that even supposed to mean?”
“Well, you’ve been obeying me without question all your life. And suddenly, because of this girl, you’re disobeying me,” she stated.
George puffed air out of his nostrils. “You can’t just tell me to stay away from someone and expect me to do that without question when I know she hasn’t done anything wrong.”
